WHAT IS DIABETIC NEUROPATHY?


Diabetes mellitus is a hormone related disorder due to deficiency of insulin hormone. The neural pathologies related to diabetes mellitus are known as Diabetic neuropathies. The common nerve related pathologies are third nerve palsy, diabetic amyotrophy, and autonomic neuropathy.


Diabetes Mellitus is an endocrine disorder related to deficiency of insulin hormone. The insulin hormone is released by the gland of pancreas and it helps in the absorption of sugar molecules from the blood stream. The decreased quantity of insulin leads to decreased absorption of sugar molecules and the blood sugar levels increase. The kidney is not able to filter these heavy molecules and they pass out through the urine. The high sugar level in the blood leads to various other disorders in the body. They cause hypertension and various other nerve related disorders.


WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF DIABETIC NEUROPATHY?


THE NEUROPATHIES ARE A RESULT OF DAMAGE TO THE NERVES. THE DIABETIC NEUROPATHIES ARE A RESULT OF:

  • Damage to nerves and blood vessels: The high sugar content in the blood can damage the soft nerve fibers.

  • Hypertension induced damage to the optic nerve and other neurons

  • Inflammation of the nerves

  • Autoimmune disorders

  • Genetic factors

  • Smoking

  • Alcohol abuse

The Diabetic neuropathy is the pathology of the nerves due to the disease diabetes. The disease affects all the peripheral nerves and can therefore show its effects on any organ of the body as all the organs of the body are innervated.

  • Weakness of the muscles

COMMIPHORA MUKUL (GUGGUL)
